Special Package of Regulator, Gauges, & BC
# 964 : Date Posted: Sep 08, 2010

With ScubaPro's introduction of SubGear to the US market there is a new value line available for you. SubGear has been a very popular line in Europe for quite some time for the diver looking for good equipment but on a limited budget.

To introduce the new line we have put together a very nice package of BC, Regulator, & Gauges. The jacket style Drift BC is a fully weight integrated design with a unique weight system that does not utilize removable pockets. The system is built right into the BC eliminating the possibility of lost or dropped weight pockets. The Bonaire Regulator is a fully balanced, environmentally sealed first stage suitable for use in all water temperatures with a diver adjustable venturi and the ability to mount it to the diver's right or left. The Aruba Octopus is a strong performing alternate air source based on the same second stage as the Bonaire but without the venturi or adjustable hose configuration. Completing the package is a SubGear 2 Gauge Console incorporating a depth gauge with maximum depth indicator and submersible pressure gauge. This console can also be upgraded to include a compass, computer, or both.

The special price on this package is only $750.00

Want to go Back Mount? We can exchange the Drift for the LiteHawk from ScubaPro at no extra charge.

The quantity is limited so check it out now.

More Info On Bonaire Flights With Tiara Air
# 959 : Date Posted: Aug 18, 2010

We recently found a way to get to Bonaire that looked affordable. Fly to Aruba on a major carrier and then hop over to Bonaire on Tiara Air. Well, some potential problems have developed with that plan.

We have learned that Tiara Air allows a total checked luggage weight of 44 lbs (20 kilos). Not per bag but total weight of all checked luggage. The carry on weight is limited to 13 lbs (6 kilos). They fly Shorts 360s, a good plane but with limited seating and weight capacity. We have been told that they must occasionally limit the number of passengers or luggage due to capacity. This may mean that checked luggage may not arrive until a later flight that day or the next. With the closeness of Aruba and Bonaire we would not expect the delay to be more than one day.

To further complicate things there is no baggage agreement between Tiara Air and major carriers. That would mean you would have to claim your baggage from your flight to Aruba and check-in for your flight to Bonaire. On the way back you would be facing the same process. We would recommend 2 to 2 1/2 hours between flights into and out of Aruba.

Finally you would have departure taxes from Aruba to Bonaire, Bonaire to Aruba, and Aruba to the US.

For some this may work out just fine. We just want you to be aware of the potential problems.
