2011 Morehead Wreck Diving - Andy Corbin

Morehead City NC July 30 and 31.

We visited the familiar sites of the U-352 and the Spar on Saturday. Sea conditions were good (especially for Morehead), with about 2 foot seas. Unfortunately, the current was ripping on Saturday making it difficult to swim around either wreck. We anchored into the stern of the U352 and I only made it to the conning tower. Visibility was about 40 ft and we saw NO lionfish.

Sunday sea conditions were even better than Saturday with minimal current. We tied into the CaribeSea. Visibility was somewhat diminished from our Saturday dives, perhaps 30 ft or so, but the sand tiger sharks were abundant and not at all shy about being photographed.

Because of the favorable conditions on the CaribeSea, we decided to remain anchored there and complete both Sunday dives on that site.
