Here are the steps for learning how to SCUBA with Diving Enterprises, Ltd and PADI.
Choosing to become a diver will lead you to a lifetime of fun, adventure, and discovery. We are glad you chose Diving Enterprises, Ltd to help you reach this goal of an Open Water Diver Certification from PADI (the Professional Association of Diving Instructors) the world's largest training agency. PADI does three times as many certifications as all other training agencies combined.
In SCUBA training, divers progress from learning diving skills in "confined water" (usually swimming pools) to practicing skills in "open water", which normally implies the sea or a lake.
Now, How To Become A Certified Scuba Diver.
|Step 1: Pick A Class that suits your schedule:
The first thing to do is find the class that best suits your schedule. We offer both weekend and weeknight classes to allow you the most flexibility. Weekend classes are held over one weekend: Friday evening 6:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday 9:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday 9:00am to 6:00pm.
When available, weeknight classes are held two nights per week for three weeks (6 sessions) from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
Step 2: Sign Up For Class:
|Step 3: Prepare for Class:
Watch the DVD and read the book. Answer all the mini-quizzes in the book and review the answers. Then complete the Knowledge Reviews at the end of each chapter. We'll review the Knowledge Reviews and answer any questions you may have. You'll take a short quiz on each chapter to confirm your knowledge. Your preparation is what allows us to complete the class and pool on time.
|Step 4: Get Your Personal Equipment:
You need to have your own, fitted, mask, fins, snorkel, and boots. These are critical to having a fun, positive learning experience. When you buy your equipment from Diving Enterprises, Ltd. We give you a student discount on the equipment and our Fit & Function Guarantee. You do not have to worry that what seemed right when you got it may not work the way you want in the water. If it does not, you'll get full credit toward the replacement item. Even if you have to exchange it more than once to get it perfect. You should get your equipment about 2 to 3 weeks before class starts. This ensures plenty of time to fit you and yet close enough to the start of class to allow us to guarantee everything works the way you want. If you have any peoblems related to equipment bought from the store we will work with you at no charge to complete your scuba course, including extra, free, pool or open water sessions. If your problems stem from equipment not bought from our store there may be an extra charge.
Step 5: Come To Class:
|Step 6: Plan For Your Dives:
There are four Open Water Training Dives to be completed for your certification. On the class schedule we suggest a dive date so you can dive with the rest of the class. You will make new friends in class and it's fun to go out for your dives with the people you know. Generally you'll make three dives the first day and the fourth dive the second day. You will need to sign up for the dives, reserve your equipment (it's free), and pick it up before you head out for your dives.
But if the schedule doesn't work, you can dive anytime we are going out. We generally dive locally almost every weekend between May 1st and November 1st. You can even split your dives over mulitiple weekends or weekdays. You aren't required to finish your dives all at one time if your schedule doesn't premit that. We'll record your dives so you can go on another trip and finish up when it is more convenient.
If you want, you can get a referral enabling you to go to any PADI instructor in the world to complete your training dives. We'll help you with the paperwork and referral process. Of course, any fees required for your referral are your responsibility.
Step 7: You're Certified!
|Step 8: What Do I Do Now?
The adventure is just beginning. Diving Enterprises, Ltd staff, students, and dive friends travel the world exploring and diving in some of the most beautiful and exotic locations on the planet. Some places we visit again and again, because of consistantly wonderful experiences. Other places are on our wish list to visit, while still others have given us memories to last a lifetime.
Choose your own path to adventure. Maybe it involves swimming with Dolphins in Hawaii, diving the President Coolidge, a massive WW II ship wreck in Vanuatu, cruising Bloody Bay Wall in the Cayman Islands, exploring the kelp forests off California, or visting the Great Barrier Reef near Australia. Whatever your travel dreams are, we can help you achieve them. You can join us on one of our trips or we'll help you arrange a private trip.
