Our last trip to St. Kitts showed it to be a great place. Now it’s time to go back and finish seeing the rest of the sights. Join Ken & Mary for Thanksgiving 2020 at Timothy Beach Resort on St. Kitts from November 21st to November 28th.
St. Kitts (also known as St. Christopher) is an island that has set aside more than a quarter of its land as a National Park, with a rainforest that is actually expanding in size rather than shrinking. This is an island surrounded by new and untouched dive sites, marked by massive beds of coral, teeming with fish of every stripe and color. On the island you will be surrounded by wildlife, from chattering vervet monkeys and scurrying families of mongoose, to roaming cows, goats, and black_bellied sheep.
You can drive or hike through the Valley of Giants, zip line over the rainforest or climb up to sit in the cradle of Sofa Rock, once the very cap of a now dormant volcano that you can climb to the very edge of, then be guided down 1000 feet to its steaming crater floor. (How many volcanos have YOU visited? None for me…Yet.) The Brimstone Hill Fortress & National Park is a World Heritage Site, and it honors the importance of St. Kitts in the 18th Century Caribbean world.
Getting around on St. Kitts is easy. You can rent a car, scooter, or ATV. Don’t want to drive? There are mini_busses and taxis with posted rates so no questions about the fare. Think of this, NO traffic lights on Kt. Kitts. None needed. Want to visit the sister island of Nevis? Catch the ferry for $8.00 one way. It’s about a 45 minutes ride. With 6 ferries there is one available at almost any time
Timothy Beach Resort is the only resort on the Caribbean side of the island on Frigate Bay, an area set aside for luxury homes and resorts. Yet it is only a 5 minute walk to the Atlantic. It is the only resort directly on the beach in Frigate Bay so guests from other resorts have to pay to use the beach you enjoy for free. All the rooms have been recently redecorated. Maybe that is one of the reasons Timothy Beach Resort is a Winner Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence & TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.
The rooms are spacious and have a view of the mountains or the front lawn/. Often, Velvet Monkeys can be seen outside in the evenings. The 277 sqft rooms have a private bath with a tub/shower. Electricity is standard US plugs and voltage. There is a nice pool above the restaraunt where you take a nice relaxing swim or sunbathe. Breakfast at the restaraunt is included. Additonal restaraunts and store are nearby, in walking distance.
Other activities are available. Tour the Fort, ride the Zipline (excellent!), visit Nevis, tour the island on the Sugar Train. We'll set up different options throughout the week.
